28 Weeks

Well, I thought since I am now 6 months along I should catch you up on things since last time. We went in at 16 weeks and scheduled our first ultrasound. We went in at 20 weeks for the ultrasound and the umbilical cord was in the way, and the baby's feet were crossed. They also told me I needed to drink more water. We scheduled another ultrasound for 24 weeks and finally were able to tell that we are having a BOY! Jer is so excited! I am a little nervous, since I really have no idea what to expect with a boy. The doctors again told me I need to up my water intake or else...they will put me on bed rest. That is definitely not something I want to do. I have been drinking lots more water and I think I am ok. I had my gestational diabetes test, and failed. So I went in today to get my 3 hour one done. I am glad it is over, but I now have to wait for the results. I am getting more excited to have him come, but I am also glad I still have 3 more months to get ready. Kennedie knows where Mikah is, and everytime we ask her, she wants to lift up my shirts, stick her finger in my belly button, and then blow on my tummy. I don't think she quite understands what is going on yet.

Jeramie's Races

Jeramie has now started to run in 5K's. He has enjoyed the 2 he has participated in and is already signed up for 2 or 3 more. I am not the best with taking pictures with our camera so I appologize for the bad photos. The first one we forgot the camera, so the pictures are from Jer's phone. That one was for the Washington County Fair. He ran it in 23 min. 28 sec.

The second one was for Swiss Days (Santa Clara). He ran that one in 23 min. 42 sec.

At the Fair

Kennedie loved the animals at the fair. Her favorite animals were the goats. I spent most of our time at the slide with her, since she wouldn't sit still to watch the demolition derby. We still had fun tho.

24th of July

We spent the evening with Grandma and Grandpa Thompson on the 24th of July. At first, Kennedie didn't want anything to do with the sparklers, and then when there were about 4 left, she wanted to hold them.

Riding the Train

While we were up north this summer we went to Salt Lake. We rode the train (FrontRunner) down and spent the day. We stopped at Temple Square, went to the Gateway, and the Planetarium. It was a blast!
We also got to visit with Great-grandma and grandpa Tubbs while we were up north.

Bear Lake

This summer we went to Bear Lake and had a blast. Kennedie loved playing with her cousins and spending time with her grandma and grandpa. We had a little birthday party for her since we went over her birthday. She loved the ice-cream! Grandma Suzie made her a blanket and Kennedie wanted to use it before it was even out of the pillow case holding it.
We went to Minnetonka Cave while we were there. Kennedie kept wanting to find a shark through the whole cave.
We went to the lake too. Kennedie loved looking for seashells. Then she would hide them in the sand castle we were building.
It was definitely a new experience tenting it with Kennedie, but she did enjoy it. We will see how next year goes with 2 kids and a tent. (Hopefully we won't be tenting it, but who knows.)

Asleep

The fourth of July I woke up and Kennedie's door was open. I couldn't find her anywhere. Then I came downstairs and this is how I found her. I don't know how long she was asleep like this.

Announcement!

We are excited to announce that we are expecting our second baby in December. We are now 3 months along (13 weeks). Our actual due date is December 23rd. It is interesting because my due date was that same day. We are trying to get Kennedie ready, but it will still be an adjustment for her when we bring the baby home. We can't wait to find out what we are having. We won't find out until our appointment the beginning of August though. I will try to be better about updating the blog to keep everyone up to date on things.

Helping Mom in the Kitchen

Kennedie helps me when I make Chex Party Mix. She likes to pour the cereal in and then eat it while the other things get put in. She then helps push the buttons on the microwave (no cooking it in the oven for me). She helps stir it and then can't wait to eat it. She also helps with making cookies. She does not like the mixer though. It's the noise, because she doesn't like the vacuum either. She knows we have to get the stool so she can help and now requests it if I am baking in the kitchen.

New Bed

We bought Kennedie a toddler bed. One of our goals this summer is to get her to sleep in it. She enjoyed helping put it together. And now she loves sleeping in it. Well, that is until she actually has to go to sleep. She did great the first week. Never got out...waited for us to get her when she woke up... But now with the second week down, it's a different story. She still loves her bed, but she has learned she can get out and open the door. So we have to completely shut her door when we put her to bed. When she finally falls asleep, we open her door a smidge. Then when she wakes up we hear her because her door hinges squeak. We have to make sure our door is also open a bit so she can come wake us up if we are still sleeping.

Sea World!

We went to San Diego at the beginning of June. It was a much needed vacation and we had so much fun.
Kennedie really liked Sea World--it was the best part of the trip. She loved seeing all the fish and animals. Kennedie enjoyed the sharks and seeing them in the window underneath. We saw the sea lion show and Kennedie was excited. She loved watching them jump in the water. We then dashed over to see the Shamu show. Kennedie enjoyed that and watching them jump in and out of the water. She did finally fall asleep (she was exhausted!) so Jer and I went and saw the penguins and arctic animals. We then went to the Dolphin show which was disappointing. It was more about the acrobats than the dolphins. Kennedie woke up during the show and afterward we took her to see the penguins, polar bears, and walrus. Then we spent about 30 minutes back at the Shamu/whale tank. There is a huge window to look through and we watched one of the whales swim by. It was HUGE! That was my favorite part of the day.
The next day we went to San Diego Zoo. It was alright, but not as fantastic as I thought it would be. We did have a good day though and saw all the animals we wanted to see. Kennedie again fell asleep from exhaustion. That afternoon when we got home, we relaxed for a while, then went to the beach. Kennedie was unsure at first and then when the water washed over her feet, that was it. She hated that and her feet were "yucky" (covered in sand). She spent the rest of the time playing on the towels and watching Daddy swim. Jer enjoyed swimming in the ocean. I preferred to stay out of it because it was freezing. And someone had to watch Kennedie. We loved our trip and can't wait to save up and go again.

Swimming

We bought Kennedie a timy pool that we can put on our back porch. She loves playing in it, but won't sit down. She does enjoy finding any sticks, rocks, or flowers to throw in the pool. She also likes to climb in the pool, then run into the house. She usually slips on the floor, but hops right up and keeps on going.

How can you say "no" to this face?

She is adorable. And even if she has started her "terrible two's" we still love her and enjoy each moment. Some more than others...

Games with the Cousins

Chase and Milee came down and stayed with Grandma and Grandpa in St. George while their mom recovered from ankle surgery. Kennedie loved playing with them and everyday would ask to go play with them. The kids soon created a game in which they would put various (leaves, sticks, etc) through the holes in the fence to the dog. I don't know how much the dog enjoyed this though.

At the Splash Pad

We went to the splash pad in the middle of town with the cousins. Kennedie loves playing in the water but she keeps covering her ears so water won't splash her (or at least that's what we think). She really enjoyed playing with her cousins, Chase and Milee, and Grandma even got in and played with them.

Morning Jewels

Jer is home with Kennedie in the mornings since he works swing shift. They were playing and found her jewelry in the toy box. Jer put ont a necklace, and then Kennedie had to put the rest on.

Helping Out!

We are building a shed at Jer's parents house and Kennedie likes to try to help. She loves playing with the dog and stealing the hammer. When we get home from working on it, Kennedie is filthy. She is going to be a great help when we have other projects. (or at least we can hope.) We will post pictures of the finished project when it gets done. Maybe another week or 2.
We tied Zeva up and Kennedie sat down next to her. Kennedie loved it!
Kennedie and Daddy dancing on the base of the shed.

Hammering away at the shed. Not really helping, but staying out of the way.

At the Park

Kennedie loves going to the park. We drive by the park every day and she calls out, "ice". That's her saying slide. She wanted me to go down the slide after her. She is 'catching' me. I didn't quite fit in the slide. My hips were too wide so I had to go down sideways. She moves out of the way once I start going down.
She is not a big fan of the swings, but we did get to to swing with us. We can't go high, and she doesn't want to stay on the swing for long.

Easter

Grandma Suzie, Grandpa Tubby and Blake came down for Easter and spent the weekend at our house. It was a great time and Kennedie really liked having them visit. We went to the Art Festival and had some great lemonade. We hope they can come visit again soon.

The next day was Easter. We didn't hide eggs for Kennedie, but she did like opening the eggs and seeing what was in each one. She really liked the treats Grandma brought.
